I would like to thank all the families that joined us on Monday for Parent Orientation. I am very excited about the upcoming school year! I am working to create a program that will be fun and stimulating for your children. Iris, Mindy and I wish you and your families a Healthy and Happy New Year. OUR "INDOOR" PICNIC
Thank you to our wonderful PTA for yesterday's fabulous "Indoor Picnic".
Due to the heat ,we brought our picnic indoors to our cool and comfortable court-yard.
The children enjoyed the face painting, balloon making and a great picnic lunch along with their families and special guests.
A fun time was had by all.

LAG B'OMER FARM, PONIES & PETTING ZOO
The farm came to visit us at OWHC yesterday. This was in honor of Lag Ba'omer (rain date).
The children enjoyed the ponies (that came all dressed up).
The petting zoo was fantastic as well. The children had a chance to feed the many different animals.
It was a bit chilly outside but we were happy there was no rain, so that we were able to enjoy the day!

TEACHER- IN SERVICE PROFESSIONAL DAY
Today , Thursday April 29th,we have an In-service Professional Day set up for our preschool teachers.
We have invited a social worker named Fay Wilbur from Jewish Board of Family Services to speak to us on the detection and prevention of child abuse. This class is a requirement from the state and the offices of children and family services.
Our second speaker is Joseph Fein, who is an attorney for CPSE children. He will be speaking to us on how to advocate for the CPSE children in our classrooms and school.
We are all looking forward to a great day of learning! Elana Helfgott

Yesterday we had a great Parenting workshop entitled"Who's The Boss?"given by our PICC social worker, Margy Ringelheim.
The class was great and we all learned a lot!

Yom Ha'atzma'ut
We had a wonderful Yom Ha'atzmaut here at OWHC Preschool. Our Israel parades were great!
Our blue and white "marchers" looked fantastic, and our blue and white cookies were a delicious treat for snack. Happy Birthday Israel!

MODEL SEDERS
It was great to see parents, grandparents and special guests today at all of the children's Model Seders.
We are so proud of the children here at OWHC, they really know so much about and for the holiday.

HANDS ON MATZAH FACTORY
The hands-on Matzah Factory is here today!
The children are having so much fun and are learning so much!
Mendy the "Matzah Man" helped the children make their own matzahs!
The children also got to see a video of a real matzah bakery.

FIRE DRILL-MARCH 2010

Parent-Teacher Conferences
It was great to see all of our Preschool parents last evening at our evening Parent-Teacher conferences.

PURIM DRESS UP AND PARADE
Today we had our belated Purim dress up and parade.
We had so much fun.
We passed the main office and got a "permit" to pass with our parade.
Everyone "ew-ed and ah-ed" over our fabulous costumes!

PURIM CARNIVAL/PICTURE DAY
It was so nice to see so many Preschool families at the synagogue Purim carnival yesterday. The children (and their parents) had a blast!
In my last blog I wrote by mistake that the Purim carnival was on March 28th (instead of February 28th). Sorry for any confusion.
Remember to wear your Purim costumes to school this Wednesday, March 3rd, which is our make up Purim dress up day( the weather did not cooperate with our original dress Purim dress up day!)

We have school photos being taken by a new photographer to our school, Marty Hyman. The children are smiling and doing a great job! Even our Mommy & Me children had a chance to participate

SNOW DAY
Yes.......
We have another snow day today!
Today was supposed to be our Purim dress up. We have postponed our Purim Dress up to Wednesday March 3rd.
Monday(March 1st) is picture day as and on Tuesday some of our Toddlers are not in school, therefore we will be using our imaginations as we do in Preschool and making Purim on Wednesday.

PRE-K Author's Teas
It was wonderful to see all of our Pre-K parents and guests today at our Pre-K Author's Tea. The children really enjoyed having you celebrate this important milestone with them. We are so proud of our author's and all that they have accomplished.
We hope you enjoyed sharing the "Tea sandwiches" and "Tea cookies" along with us for snack.

Haiti Collections-Thank you!
We want to thank our wonderful Preschool families for all in your help in your generous collections for Haiti.
We collected bins full of medical supplies and clothing. Our classroom Tzedakah money along with other donations for this cause amounted to $1200. A check representing our school and synagogue was sent to "Stop Hunger Now"
Kudos to Amy Kaufman who is celebrating a birthday and has asked her friends to donate to this cause in lieu of gifts. We hope all of these supplies and donations will bring relief to our friends in Haiti during this difficult time.

Author's Teas

Every child has had an opportunity to author and illustrate their own book. To celebrate parents and family members are invited to join us this week for a special "Author's Tea" Each child will have a chance to read and present their own book. Alphabet and tea snacks will be served. We look forward to sharing this milestone with you all!

FEBRUARY-DENTAL AWARENESS MONTH
February is dental awareness month. We are so lucky that Dr. Michele Savel has been gracious enough to visit with all of our children today.
Dr. Savel spoke to us about how to properly care for our teeth and about healthy eating. Her dinosaur puppet squirted water at us as he was brushing his teeth! It was so funny!
Dr. Savel brought "dental goodie bags "for us all .The children will be writting thank you letters to Dr. Savel. We thank Dr. Savel for coming to visit the children at OWHC!
